The other thing about the Mustang T-5 that is different from other Ford trannys is input shaft is a little longer.  The above picture shows how far into the clutch disk the T-18 input shaft will fit.  It is right at the end of the splines, but it will work.

The T-5 input shaft was long enough and had a small enough tip that it fit into the end of the crank shaft, but the T-18 shaft just barely extended past the surface of the flywheel and the tip was too big for the 2.3 pilot bushing anyway.  So here I bought a pilot bushing that had the correct diameter for the input shaft, and had it turned down to fit inside the flywheel.  To make sure it stayed put, I used red loc-tite.
