It's important to have good helpers when attempting project such as this.  Brandon is helping me illustrate the spacer that was added rather than extending the drive shaft.  The pinto engine was a bit shorter than the original L134.  This necessitated moving the transmission and transfercase forward by about one inch.  The firewall still had to be cut out to clear the back of the engine though.  This setup worked, but just wasn't very satisfactory, and when the noise that I thought was a bolt or a rock in my bellhousing, turned out to be loose rollers in the bottom of the transmission, I decided it was time to upgrade the tranny.
